What works

i have the retail version of nolf2 with cd protection. the game comes on two cd's and there is an extra audio cd with game soundtrack. patched to 1.3.

cd-check passes, game loads. i've disabled the movies beforehand. launched the game with "max detail" option from the launcher menu.

i've launched the tech demo in max detail on 640x480 resolution in a desktop window (aka "test settings" option in configuration). some things work, but many models/textures are missing and i often hear noise instead of sound.

as with previous wine versions, native windows dll file is still needed to run the game.

What does not
3d models are distorted (e.g. cate's model that appears in the main menu), i often hear static instead of music/sounds.

What was not tested
gameplay, logo movies,

No Music
by Ryan K on Saturday July 6th 2013, 14:47
I can get the game working smoothly and correctly with the software vertex blending patch, and needed DLL but for some reason music does not play what-so-ever. Sound effects and voices are ok, just music. Any one else run into this problem and, hopefully, found a solution?

Working
by Kevin on Friday March 12th 2010, 19:28
The game works fine now in 1.1.40 btw. I had to install somethings in winetricks. specifically vcrun2005sp1 and allcodecs. not only that but of course you need msvcirt.dll. My specs are:

Arch linux x64
intel core 2 duo 2ghz
nvidia 8400m gs
2gb ram

Installing/main menu works sweet(exept for some minor model dislocations)
Game crashes in libgl.so.1(most likely from missing d3d multi thread support in wine)

Needs msvcirt.dll from a windows installation.

Other than that the game introvideoes work sweet(I was quite suprised)

to launch the game, you must download msvcirt.dll and put it in c:/windows/system32 repertory.

Unfortunately, game stops with a hardware T&L problem....
