The test results for this version are very old, and as such they may not represent the current state of Wine. Please consider submitting a new test report.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
What works
Installing, playing the game
What does not
With mousewarpoverride=force the mouse works normal ingame but doesn't work at all in the menus,
with mwo=enabled the mouse works normal in the menus but very flaky ingame (seems as if the game resets the mouse half the way you moved).
Some graphical glitches (particularly in cutscenes) .
Patch (to the game) doesn't change anything about this.
What was not tested
Multiplayer
Additional Comments
I had to install msvcrt
No NOCD-Crack necessary, just mounted the cd and set that as drive d: in winecfg.
Due to the aforementioned mwo-issues I play the game with mwo=force, and whenever I have to use the menu (to set my subprocesses) I restart with mwo=enabled.

Mouse glitch
by ErPanfi on Friday December 24th 2010, 14:00
This is a workaround for desperate people which, like me, play with forced MouseWarpOverride and have to navigate the game menus with the keyboard.
The frustrating part of this is that the subroutines interface can't be used at all, beacuse the keyboard don't interact with it.
I'm running the game in a virtual desktop and I found a trick to avoid to reset the game every time I want to change my subs: I open a new small window and put it in the center of the game window.
When I'm playing the small window is under the game window but when I want to change my subs I press F1 to bring the interface up and then alt+tab to switch the focus on the other window.
While inside the non-game window the mouse can move freely and when you step in the game window the game pointer appears where the mouse is. The mouse is then remapped at the center of the screen *BUT* the game pointer is not! My method to select a subroutine is then place the small window in a sweet spot then click the left button like crazy while moving the mouse outside the window, trying to exit just over the subroutine I want to click.
Once dragged press alt+tab again, move the window in a new sweet spot and use the same trick to drop the sub.
Alas, this method doesn't work with the version upgrade, so you still have to reset the game without forcing MWO to spend your upgrade points... But admit it: this happens really less often that a subroutine-change session =)

Washed out too bright screen
by Jeremiah Flerchinger on Thursday September 11th 2008, 14:27
Noticed a washed out or too bright screen may occur when screen glow is on or Performance is set to high. This can be corrected by enabling the Pixel Shader in Wine.
Go to Wine Configuration -> Graphics and check Allow Pixel Shader (if supported by hardware). You should now be able to turn on screen glow (Options -> Performance -> Display -> Enable Screen Glow) or set performance to high (Options -> Performance).
Things look way cooler with the glow. Now if only the models rendered correctly. The Spore creature creator appears to have a similar issue and some possible patches in the works - hopefully they'll help.
Getting sound to work
by Jeremiah Flerchinger on Monday September 8th 2008, 14:36
Alsa sound does not work (for me), even if I try to open regedit in Wine and create the key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->Wine->Alsa Driver", add the string "UseDirectHW", and modify the value to "y". Others have reported luck with that method.
To get sound to work I had to open "Configure Wine", select the Audio tab, uncheck Alsa driver, & check OSS driver. I could then start the autorun for the game and uncheck Disable Sound and/or Disable Music.
Disable Sound to avoid freeze
by Jeremiah Flerchinger on Monday September 8th 2008, 13:51
From the autorun start screen, you must select options & disable sound & music. Otherwise you'll get the ILTSSoundSys error "Failed to initialize sound driver SndDrv.dll. Execution may terminate" and the window will lock up.

Installation is fine for the first disc. When prompted for the secnd disc, I am allowed to eject the first disc but the installer crashes with the following error:
