Multi core processor issue
by zergling on Saturday May 12th 2012, 13:34
Silent Hill 2 is not compatible with multi-core technology and because of this, it may causes random crashes. This also happens on Windows Machines. So, to make the story short;

Open up your terminal and go to your SH2 game dir and type:

WINEDEBUG=-all taskset -c 0 wine sh2pc.exe

That's all.

I hope it helped.

AMD Driver workaround
by zergling on Saturday May 12th 2012, 13:26
Workaround for the gray rendering issue with AMD cards:

Open your text editor and copy the following:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D]
"UseGLSL"="disabled"

and save it like sh2.reg

regedit (from terminal)

Go to -> Registry -> Import Registry File

Select sh2.reg and click Open.

That's all.

--------------
TO REMOVE IT
--------------
wine regedit /D "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D"

I just have rendering issues with my AMD card (Gray characters and monsters). Beside that, everything works wonderfully.

I do not have this problems with my old Nvidia card.

Does not run correctly on 1.1.8
by Sam on Wednesday November 12th 2008, 11:32
I've tried a clean install of the game with and with out directx installing with it. It runs slow and the fonts are broken. I don't think this should be classed as platinum when on a clean .wine install it doesn't work. I've tried the same install on three different machines and get the same results.

I'm guessing that some other things must be installed first for this program to run right. If anyone has any suggestions on how I can get this running I'd love to hear them.

Thanks
Sam
