What works
* Installation; during installation an image/graphic fills up the entire screen with details about the demo. The only indication I had that the demo had finished installing was when the hard drive light stopped flashing, because the image/graphic that appears during the installation was still there, I couldn't remove it from the screen so I had to CTRL+ALT+F1 and login to type "killall wineserver" without quotes and then CTRL+ALT+F7 to return but now it was a black screen so I hit CTRL+ALT+F1 and typed "killall CL_Demo_US_Setup.exe" without quotes then hit CTRL+ALT+f7 and I saw my desktop again but there were 3 processes active which were titled "City Life Demo Uninstall: Uninstalling" which was odd because I had been installing the demo not uninstalling! I loaded KSysGuard and say three .exe's loaded A~NSISu_.exe, B~NSISu_.exe, and C~NSISu_.exe. I killed all three processes within KSysGuard and each respective Uninstaller window exited. I checked the install directory and the demo appeared to have been installed.
* Uninstalling the program via ALT+F2 and typing "wine uninstaller" without quotes; all files are removed but an empty install directory (Monte Cristo) remains for manual removal at the user's leisure. My KDE Panel crashed when I ran the uninstaller, but the program uninstalled.
What does not
~ Starting the game demo via "~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Monte Cristo/City Life Demo/BIN$ wine CityLifeDemo.exe" at the command line without quotes (no desktop icon was placed with the installer) brings up an error message:
The window has the title: "Protection System (FrontLine Pro)" with a gold key icon beside it Inside the window is a graphic of the game with the logo and a yellow word "Error", a logo with the words MONTE CRISTO beneath it, and two buttons OK and Information. and text in white which reads: "Internal error when accessing one of the application's libraries: Contact your Customer Support. Error code: 997."
When I clicked on the Information button, it said: "Save the below report details. You will need this data when contacting customer Support: 3.7.13.1:0: 3E5"
When I clicked View Report, Notepad loaded with the following text inside: "Dear User! This file contains detailed information on the problem occurred.Save the file and forward it to your product Customer Support. ------------------------------ Information ------------------------------ [Error Information] 3.7.13.1; 0 [System Information] Unable to gather system information using MSINFO32.EXE."
I clicked OK at this point and the program exited.
What was not tested
- Nothing was tested as the program gives an error as described above in What Doesn't Work.
