What works

All functions seem to work. The tray icon may be the only problem. Depending on your window manager, you will have a floating "mini window" somewhere on your desktop. With Fluxbox the icon will be added to the Slit (including an entry in the slit-file) --> OK.

I guess this is also true for "Treepad Plus" and "Treepad Safe". I don't know about "Treepad X Enterprise", because this seems to have a very different architecture.

Installation:

I recommend the zipped archive, not the installer. Just unzip it to the program folder and run treepadbiz.exe....

Installing Treepad > Menu creation
by G Thatcher on Friday May 28th 2010, 10:14
If you are installing a Windows version EXE of Treepad in Linux/Wine, it will create a menu option quite nicely now - under the Wine Menu. An icon is included, and you can create a Launcher for Treepad either to the panel or to the desktop if using Gnome.

Using Shortcut Keys in Treepad
by G Thatcher on Friday May 28th 2010, 10:09
I am using the latest Treepad version 7.6, though this finding will probably relate to older versions too.

For both these scenarios, do NOT use short-cut keys (alt, CTL, shift, function keys etc) when using Treepad in:

1) A Virtualbox environment (I use LinuxMint 9 host, Windows XP guest)

or

2) Treepad in native LinuxMint using Wine.

Short-cut keys are used quite a lot in Treepad, they come in useful for setting quickformat font/colour/style combinations.

Unfortunately the short-cut keys will invoke whatever combination has been set up in either the Virtualbox environment or your native Linux desktop, and could do a bit of damage if you're not careful.

Treepad - update
by Mark Buell on Friday October 16th 2009, 7:47
This is an update after using Treepad on Debian for a few months. The font rendering was improved by instituting several small fixes, but it is remains acceptable, not great. A bigger issue has come up - the active window disappears if it loses the focus while saving or opening. Any of the following activities will cause this, IF Treepad loses the "focus" during their execution. This means if it is not "on top", if you aren't familiar with the term.
1. Saving
2. Opening a database
3. Moving an open database window from one desktop to another.
