Jaunty Jackalope
by Altay Hunter on Thursday October 22nd 2009, 7:40
I'm surprised this still has yet to be mentioned here, but Age of Mythology Gold on Jaunty Jackalope has a strange issue. The video sequence works, but as soon as it ends the user is logged out and ends up at the login screen. Skipping the video sequence (either by modifying the launcher to skip the video or by pressing Esc during the video) causes the user to be immediately logged out. The only times I've gotten past the video sequence are when I pressed Ctrl+Alt+Right to switch workspaces during the video sequence. This does not always work, but without doing it Age of Mythology never works. Once I've gotten past the video sequence the game runs without issues.
This sounds like a problem that's user-specific, but I've had this problem on multiple computers running Ubuntu 9.04. Has anyone gotten Age of Mythology to work in Jaunty Jackalope, or at least encountered the same problem I have? Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm currently just hoping that a newer version of Wine or Ubuntu will eventually solve the problem.
Impossible to click installer's buttons
by Asche on Monday August 24th 2009, 12:55
The installer launchs well except for the buttons ("Install",...). Instead of them there is just the same text without borders. Buttons can't be clicked and game can't be installed.
I have already got all neaded dlls but I don't know how to resolve that bug.
re: failed to load log file

I found a solution to bug 12085.
Age of Mythology usually wants to store its log files in the directory it's installed in.
The Titans expansion however wants to put its log files elsewhere.
I used WINEDEBUG=+file to track where the log files were supposed to go and on my machine it wanted to put them in:
/windows/profiles/richy/My Games/Age of Mythology/
As I had a bad symlink to that directory(through my fault) it wasn't
possible to create any log files.
I suspect the problem may be similar for other people with the same problem.
