Version 1.x features the triangular conflict as well as the European and Chinese races.
Old test results
The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
- Probably everything not mentioned in "What does not work"
What does not
- The text people say doesn't appear above their head. It is only visible in the chat area.
- Opening the Options menu ingame crashes SRO which is rather bad.
- The cursor looks somewhat damaged.
What was not tested
Only tested my glaiver char so I only have a small subset of all the available skills.
I eventually got Silkroad to work partially. I'm running a CRUX box with 1024 MB RAM, 2.8 Ghz P4 and a GF FX5900 XT.
The first attempt in running SRO failed because the installer kept on crashing. It seems like this was caused by not enough disk space as it magically worked when I made enough room for it.
The next thing where unreadable fonts which I solved by copying the fonts from my WinXP installation although there supposedly is a package containg the needed fonts so you don't need a Windows installation.
The thing with the cursor is weird as it looks like a full color image converted to 256 colors resulting in corrupted transparancy.
Make sure that your computer meets the recommended requirements for Silkroad (Pentium 4 or higher, 512MB RAM, 3D and DirectX 9.0b compatible video card, and 3GB of free HDD space) and that you have the necessary drivers for your graphics card.
Follow the instructions at http://www.winehq.org/site/download-deb to add the wine repository, then follow the directions to use Synaptic or Terminal to download and install the package.
Run "winecfg" in terminal (without the quotes) and set compatibility to Windows 98.
Download the Silkroad client and unzip it if you need to. Then run "wine executable.exe" (without quotes and replace executable.exe with the silkroad installer exe)
Run the client either from Applications>Wine>Programs>Joymax>Silkroad or from your Desktop.
Wait for patching to complete.
Vote for Silkroad on the Appdb!
Depending on your distro and other variables, you may need to build wine from source in order to get Silkroad to work at a nice, usable speed.
Make sure you've followed all of the previous instructions correctly and carefully.
Some users can't get silkroad to work unless they remove xdg-utils and msttcorefonts (sudo apt-get remove msttcorefonts xdg-utils).
If the game runs very slowly or there are graphics issues, try these
Match your in-game video resolution with your X resolution so it
becomes full screen.
Install the latest drivers for your graphics card or switch to the closed-source
3rd party binary drivers (example: nVidia drivers at nvidia.com).
Tweak the xorg.conf (/etc/X11/) file and input your monitor's horizontal/vertical frequencies,
Launch winecfg and in the graphics tab check the box to emulate a
virtual desktop and enter a resolution so that Windows applications
will run in a window controlled by your windows manager.
Disable "bloom effect" and "water reflection" through the in-game graphics option dialog.
As of wine 0.9.49 and Silkroad v1.131, guild emblems and character buffs should appear.
In-game audio and video settings may not be saved after Silkroad
If you cannot get Silkroad to work at all, you can copy over the Silkroad
folder Windows into ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Silkroad. Make sure that the file names are the same when you copy the files over or
rename the files so that you only have one of each file, as Linux is
case-sensitive while Windows is not.
If Silkroad is launched from Terminal, many errors will be displayed onscreen. Those are normal and
can be ignored. Running Silkroad from a desktop launcher or from the
launch in the Applications>Wine menu will not show the terminal.
The launcher may need to be restarted multiple times till the "Start" button appears or the update starts. This may be solved by doing "hosts gwgt1.joymax.com" before starting the launcher.
Fullscreen mode doesn't work properly and changing between fullscreen and windowed mode via alt+enter will result in great graphic glitches.
If you intend to submit a screenshot, please make sure that it does not have your character details by pressing F12 beforehand. Also make sure you are only taking a screenshot of the Silkroad window, and not the Desktop.

Tested 2 bots, can say one works flawless, the other one needs "special" care.
agBot will work if you follow the instructions for installing it, and installing the libraryfiles.
iBot is a clientless bot which is real fast. You will need 2 things to successfully run it: the C++ 2008 Redistributable and Windows Media Player 9 or 10.
You can get both of them with winetricks, and, after you've installed them, it will work flawless. Good luck logging in!

Downloading the Client
by Thomas on Friday March 6th 2009, 12:26
I can't even manage to make it to download the client to install this. >.> I'm a Ubuntu noobie. Someone mind telling me what to change the settings and stuff to? When I go to silkroadcp.joymax.com/userenv.htm it says "Web page of Silkroad Online is optimized under below condition.
Windows Operation Systems ( Microsoft Windows 9X/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003 )
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 and above."
And doesn't give me an option to download.

I tryed to install Silkroad but it keeps giving the "Replacer.exe Is damaged" error, after reinstalling it a lot of times, I decided that I would copy it from the windows HD to the .wine/program files/silkroad folder, so it gives "Failed to run Silkroad.exe" error, then, I tryed to run it directly from the windows HD (double-clicking Silkroad.exe) and it runs, but after the GameGuard, it gets all black and the Silkroad mouse is there even out of the Virtual Desktop window, and nothing works, any keyboard action, no even turning on/off Numlock, everything stops, but I can move the mouse and hear the Login Screen music.
Bard Dancing Skills Causing Crash
by Conroe Smith on Sunday October 12th 2008, 22:10
Anyone find a solution to this problem? When a bard casts a skill from the Dancing Concert Line, it causes the game to immediately crash. I've tried the latest version of wine (1.1.6) along with the older, stable version (1.0.0) with the same results.

ive downloaded the client and installed it but when i try to start it a window pop up and say that i need to download the full game but i cant download it from there homepage because its for ie and windows can some buddy please help me? // thanks
I was able to start the launcher. Note that before the update progress bar didn't start if i click on the shortcut provided by wine. So what i did was typing the command above in the terminal. And from there for some reason, the update progress bar started and it's running.
However after updating, The gameguard authenticating started and it froze.

Seems to work (poor framerate on the laptop, but fine on the desktop) except that nothing animates. All characters are statues standing with their arms out gliding along with their weapons on the ground between their feet. Particle effects are where they should be.

Wine 0.9.56 is availlable on Debian sid. I just installed it and this is the result:
The silkroad loader crash before exit. Then Silkroad launch normally but if you press alt+enter (windows mode/fullscreen), I lose the 3D graphics, I have only color and geometrical forms, but I could still view 2D graphics...:-/ Whatever I do (alt+enter again, change resolution...) I could not obtain a normal 3D again. So I have to exit the game and return to Wine 0.9.50 version with Playonlinux.
