What works
Everything, completed game successfully, able to change the resolution, runs smoothly, saves correctly, didn't crash once during the entire game play. Actually seems to run better than on my windows install.
Also tested network play which works fine.
Tested on a Acer Ferarri 4000 series laptop with ATI graphics card and 2GB ram
What does not
Everything seems to work
What was not tested
Everything was tested that I could think of.
Multiplayer via LAN seems to be working fine as long as the players are not connected via wireless. I was unable to connect to a friends server and vice-versa as he was on wireless and i was connected via ethernet to the wireless router. Stick to ethernet and your good. do let me know though if wireless LAN does work.
HOWTO
Well, nothing much to it. Just dump in the CD, do "wine setup.exe" and it installs beautifully without a hitch. after that one may want to use the no-cd patch and then just execute the stvoy.exe and stvoyhm.exe files for single and multi player respectively. ( the no-cd files are not required, the game works perfectly from CD or by a mounted iso )
too many keys being pressed.
ive noticed that when i have both the mouse keys and a keyboard key being pressed, the games input freezes. apparently it opens the drop down menu on the desktop which is similiar to simply right-clicking on the desktop. this ofcourse is a problem with wine ( doesnt happen when playing the game in windows ) and lets see if the future versions can correct this overflow of input.
Native version available
Native Linux beta version of this game is available here. Please note this is only for multi-playet ( Holomatch ) and does not support single player. Also i have not tested it myself.
