The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
Installing the Game.
Playing the Game.
What does not
Glitch: Mouse Cursor vanished above links / serial number entry filed in splash app.
What was not tested
- Use winetricks to install ie7 (required by the starter app). ie6 does not work at all, while gecko actually displays the app's html, but fails to actually start the game.
- Set wine to display a desktop background. Performance is unplayable otherwise, more like a slide show with repeating sound. Though fine in desktop-mode.
- Did not need any other native DLLs. DirectX, DirectPlay et al do not solve the mentioned performance issue.
- Episode 102 behaves identical, probably valid for the entire season.

Found this in test data above, wanted to make sure everyone could find it:
Windows version must be set to "Windows XP".
Requires the SecuRom patch from TellTale to run. Simply run the patch with Wine after
installing the game. The two versions of the patch can be found here: DVD version distr. by
Telltale: files.telltalegames.com/support/SamMaxSeason1_SecurROM_1.0_TTG.exe Double CD version
distr. by The Adventure Company: files.telltalegames.com/support/SamMaxSeason1_SecurROM_1.0_TAC.exe
An official discussion of the patch is here: www.telltalegames.com/forums/showpost.php?p=39374&postcount=32
