F.E.A.R. Combat is a completely free (as in beer) standalone game, offering up the multiplayer component of the hit game F.E.A.R.
All you need to do is download the game, sign up for a CD key, and you can play some of the hottest action deathmatch around.

No Single Player
by James on Sunday June 13th 2010, 18:37
I installed the game just fine. However when I launch the single player exe it tells me FEAR.exe has a problem and must shut down. But if I start multiplayer, I can get into the menu. change what I want and even go online and play the game.
So I am pretty confused. I did everything that was mentioned here. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Sound issue
by zuki on Friday December 25th 2009, 22:16
Hi,
I have installed the game from the FEAR ultimate DVD. The game runs very well, but I have some sound problems. The in game videos have no sound and during the game all voices are silent.
But I can hear weapons, my steps and some crappy ambient sounds (Very poor quality). I tried different sound settings with wine x.35, but no success so far.
I searched also the "WMFADist.exe" file on DVD but can't find the file. Anybody an idea?

Extra install possibly required
by William J May on Tuesday December 8th 2009, 2:02
I successfully installed FEAR Gold (after winetricks-corefonts for CD-Key). Could run and get to the main menu. Starting a new game (single or multiplayer) would result in Wine hanging at a black screen. The solution was going to the FearGold/support directory and installing WMFADist.exe It's something about 'Windows Media Audio 7.1'.

installer fails
by John Pycroft on Wednesday February 4th 2009, 1:47
ok, i downloaded the installer and went to install FEAR, it failed fairly quickly after running, iput that down to the fact that my "drive_c" folder is actually a second HDD and the permissions are a bit sus, so i unmounted that and the installer progressed alot further, it gets to the bit where you actually tell it to install then tells me i have insufficient HDD space, this is false, i have 110GB of space left on the drive i was trying to install to, i cant figure it out
Debugging suggestions?
by Matt on Monday March 5th 2007, 22:36
As of now, FEAR Combat runs and exits silently without doing anything. I'd like to try to debug it further, but don't know much about wine's debugging options. I'd welcome any pointers or suggestions on the best debug flags for this sort of problem in a game.
