No Polish characters

I cannot write Polish characters in Wine. I change into the Polish layout, and everything is OK, just ąężźćśłńó cannot be written.

Double Install Trick
by Lukasz Sokol on Saturday May 17th 2008, 8:13
'Double install' means, first you can run just the 'uruchom.exe' straight from the cd, then, again, you need to go to the 'setup' directory there and run 'setup.exe' - be sure to point it to the same folder!.

On my Ubuntu HH 8.04, after installing Wine (and DX9 too) all of this was doable just by mouse - no console needed (except the DX9 installation requiring configuration of libraries first)

(BTW, please mention that DX9 needs to be installed BEFORE the WSPAPWN is - installing the DX9 after the dictionary, breaks it and reinstall (both two steps) is needed.

How to make sound work properly.
by Krzysztof Dajka on Friday March 28th 2008, 5:16
I've tested this on wine 0.9.57. First you'll have to download DirectX 9.0c (there is 'how to' in polish on this site jarzebski.pl/read/wine-directx-9-0c.so )
from download.microsoft.com/download/6/4/c/64c3d3d6-c5da-47eb-9db4-86e45b9f579e/directx_mar2008_redist.exe . You will need also two dll's mscoree.dll and streamci.dll available here:
www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/M/mscoree.dll/1.1.4322.5738/download.html
and the latter here:
www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/S/streamci.dll/5.1.2600.0/download.html

Installation:
1. Copy two dll's to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32
2. Run winecfg and change version of Windows to Windows 2000
3. In libraries tab add new rule d3d8 and select builtin.
4. You'll have to edit ~/.wine/user.reg
Find there two lines:
[Software\\Wine\\DllOverrides] 1205767775
"d3d8"="builtin"

(those numbers may vary). You'll have to paste another dll overrides:
"d3d9"="builtin"
"d3dim"="native"
"d3drm"="native"
"d3dx8"="native"
"d3dxof"="native"
"dciman32"="native"
"ddrawex"="native"
"devenum"="native"
"dinput"="builtin"
"dinput8"="builtin"
"dmband"="native"
"dmcompos"="native"
"dmime"="native"
"dmloader"="native"
"dmscript"="native"
"dmstyle"="native"
"dmsynth"="native"
"dmusic"="native"
"dmusic32"="native"
"dnsapi"="native"
"dplay"="native"
"dplayx"="native"
"dpnaddr"="native"
"dpnet"="native"
"dpnhpast"="native"
"dpnlobby"="native"
"dsound"="builtin"
"dswave"="native"
"dxdiagn"="native"
"mscoree"="native"
"msdmo"="native"
"qcap"="native"
"quartz"="native"
"streamci"="native"

5. Run dictionary and test pronounciation. Everything should be fine by now.

Disclaimer: I don't know if every step I mentioned is needed, maybe there is some shortcut to get pronounciation working, but I don't know it.
