Get Anno 1701 working with wine

You need a nocd crack. The 1.02 wont work so use the 1.01 one.

Next, use winecfg to make a dll override for the Anno1701.exe. Set dbghelp to native, when the warning comes up just click ok.

Open regedit, visit http://wiki.winehq.org/UsefulRegistryKeys
and set

OffscreenRenderingMode to fbo

UseGLSL to enabled

If you start from a fresh wine install, you probably have to create these strings first.

Ingame just deactivate Bloom, as it makes the screen turn black. If you have Sound Problems, set the sound to mono.

Workaround for bad sound problems
by Julian Murgia on Sunday February 27th 2011, 13:14
If the sound of the game seems hashed whereas it was ok before, just turn the sound to "Emulated" in winecfg.

When OK is klicked the game closes.

dbghelp override not possible?
by Kasseopeia on Monday May 31st 2010, 15:04
i just tried to add the dbghelp.dll to the list but when i klick ok in the warning message the winecfg application gets stuck. i just can close it with the normal button in the top left corner but it doesn´t save the changes to the anno1701.exe

has anyone an idea?

Ok sorry for double posting but I got this. Just try another no-cd patch. The one from Razor1911 works.

doesn't work on 1.1.42
by Shader on Thursday May 6th 2010, 15:08
Hi I have the same problem... Can't get this to work on Wine 1.1.42 and Ubuntu 10.04. I got a native dbghelp from XP.

Anno 1701 crash
by Silver Quettier on Sunday April 25th 2010, 6:25
Hello there.

Anno 1701 crashes at start. I lurked around, but could find nothing useful that I could understand (noob inside).

I'm using Wine 1.1.42, with registery edits :

In Direct3D :
OffscreenRenderingMode to fbo
UseGLSL to enabled

and a custom profile for Anno 1701 : compatibility mode "Windows 7" and native dbghelp.dll copied from a Win7 computer. Game is v 1.0.1 with fixed exe (no-cd). The no-cd works well on a windows system.

Here is a log :

> wine Anno1701.exe

fixme:ntoskrnl:KeInitializeTimerEx stub: 0x110f90 0
fixme:font:WineEngAddFontResourceEx Ignoring flags 10
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x32ad70,0x00000000), stub!
fixme:d3d:swapchain_init The application requested more than one back buffer, this is not properly supported.
Please configure the application to use double buffering (1 back buffer) if possible.
fixme:d3d:swapchain_init Add OpenGL context recreation support to context_validate_onscreen_formats
err:d3d:WineD3D_ChoosePixelFormat Can't find a suitable iPixelFormat
err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr 0x7bc4a621
wine client error:9: write: Mauvais descripteur de fichier

"Mauvais descripteur de fichier" would be french for "Bad file descriptor" or something similar.

Can anyone give me any idea ?

Settings
by Libuntux on Wednesday April 7th 2010, 12:03
I didn't mange to edit the following things:

- OffscreenRenderingMode to fbo

- UseGLSL to enabled

How can I do that? I couldn't find any similar entries in my registry. Thanks for helping...
