i can't get it running
by kensley on Wednesday June 23rd 2010, 18:21
I installed wine 1.1.42 on the latest version of ubuntu. I installed this game and that part went smoothly. I didn't install the option for direct x. When the game finished loading it automatically opened in a popup window. You can hear the intro theme music but the entire popup window is WHITE. Can't see or click on anything. I tried re-booting, and still the same issue. I un-installed the package and tried installing it in a different directory, I still get a white blank screen.
graphics problem
by Unifying Theory on Monday March 23rd 2009, 23:42
For me this game is garbage. While I have th pixel shader disabled the menus and helmet graphics work fine but the cinematics and in-game graphics besides the helmet do not work. If I enable the pixel shader none of the graphics work besides the menus. I have intel915 graphics.
won't load level
by Ben Beswick on Friday August 22nd 2008, 13:14
I can use the menu (which is a little white as previously mentioned) I can change the settings and all, but as soon as the game comes to loading the first level once the loading bar gets to full, the screen just freezes. I have tried waiting for a long time and still nothing happens so it isn't just being slow. Is there some registry edit i can try. I'm using an ATI card in case that matters.
I see only colors filling the whole screen ingame. no textures, no meshes, nothing

Hi,
I tried wine 0.9.60, 1.0 and 1.1.0. with nvidia 173.14.05 drivers for my GeForce FX 5900XT on linux 2.6.24.5. The game installs and starts nice. The main menu is sort of white as the tests already suggest. I can play around with the settings and the sound works fine. However when I start a new game I can listen to the intro babbling but the screen is only filled with one color at a time. Color changes when I move the field of view and is more a less a summary of the textures' colors that should be on the screen. At this point you don't have a HUD yet (see below).
Seems so be a Direct3D drawing issue. I tried to change to OpenGL in the System.ini but the game is missing the OpenGLDriver.dll the unreal engine would need for that - it's simply not shipped out on the cd. Thank you Lucas -_-
So.. I went through various websites and found nothing that could help me. There is an issue with some NVIDIA cards and bump mapping but I made sure that the settings in the System.ini are good for this issue. No patches, no tweaks.
Then I downloaded the demo of the game. The result is very similar but I do have my HUD on screen and there are no flashy colors. However beside the hud displays I get only the color black this time :(
Well, now I went for a long shot and copied D3DDrv.dll and D3DDrv.int from the demo to the full install. It changed absolutly nothing :(
What I do get is a lot of debug like that:
fixme:d3d8:ValidateVertexShader (0x1172f990 (nil) (nil) 1 0x32ef5c): stub
fixme:d3d8:ValidatePixelShader (0x11683138 (nil) 1 0x32f0dc): stub

fixme:d3d:IWineD3DVertexBufferImpl_PreLoad Too many declaration changes, stopping converting
fixme:d3d_draw:primitiveDeclarationConvertToStridedData Missing vbo streams with unfixed colors or transformed position, expect problems

beat windows

In Windows, the bump mapping in this game doesn't work on geforce 8000+ or on Radeon 3000+. It has to be turned off or the game crashes. If it could work in Wine that would be a nice bullet point for Wine.
For me, the game renders mostly correctly now (with bump mapping!) on a 7900gt. I'm hoping Wine can do bump mapping in this game with the newer cards as well. If I get one of these cards I'd love to try it out.
In the meantime, has someone with one of these cards successfully played the game in Wine with bump mapping on and working? That would be awesome.
