Wine Version1.0.1

Description

15.1 Retail and trial version of Minitab. It works good but the installation is troublesome.

How to install:

  • Download DCOM98, set windows version in wine configuration to "Windows 98", then run DCOM98.exe
  • Download Minitab 14 japanese (trial) and install it. (Don't worry if you can't understand anything: when the License window appears click on " :::::::::(A) ", it probably means "accept")
  • Set windows version to "Windows XP"
  • Download Minitab 15.1 and install it.
  • Reboot linux
  • Run Minitab 14 and then close it
  • Now you can finally run Minitab 15
If you don't follow this procedure you won't be able to use graphs and control charts due to runtime errors (actually I don't know why).

Old test results
The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)

What works
A good portion of the statistical functionality. Opening, creating and saving worksheets and projects. Everything that I tried File, Edit, Data, Calc, Stat menus on the main menu bar worked for me on several worksheets of sample data. The help files (in chm format) were displayed properly. In prior versions of wine (pre 1.2), using help would cause a run exception.

What does not
Several graphical functions in the "Graph" drop down menu on the main menu bar gave fatal runtime exceptions. Also, 'options' and 'manage profiles' functions of the 'Tools' menu gave exceptions.

What was not tested
I didn't exhaustively test every stat function. The stat functions and their associated graphs worked. Creating graphs directly from the 'Graph' menu did not seem to work.

Additional Comments

One thing in common for the above errors and runtime exceptions was the following message.

fixme:storage:create_storagefile Storage share mode not implemented.

Whatever methods Minitab uses to store internal parameters and preferences (sqlite or whatever) does not seem to be implemented in wine, or is otherwise throwing exceptions.

HOWTO
Sometimes 3D graphs' windows will not close or minimize. If you want to minimize them go to window/minimize all; then you can restore only the worksheet and session window. If you want to forcibily close a 3D graph go to window/clos all graphs. This however will close every graph in Minitab.

Hello Guys,
after some copying of dlls etc I got Minitab 15.1.30 working with wine 1.2.2. After many requests on missing files, I just copied all files in every directory. Up to today everything is working, one crash, but same topic as above(runtime error)

Have fun
