HOWTO

Z95 won't run on either Win XP, nor Wine. In order to get it to work, a hack is needed.

  • First, insert your CD. The CD's volume label must be Z95VOLUME!
  • Downloads this and execute it using "msiexec /i z95forXP_by_YoMommaNL_1.1.msi" This will install the game from the CD.
  • Execute using Loader.exe with CD still inserted.

However, Z95 doesn't work that well. It's terribly slow and the mouse lags a bit. These issues are also present when running on XP while using this patch. Also, the minimap isn't shown and no music can be heard. The DOS version works a good deal better, use DOSBox for it.

Dos or win95 version?
by Sebastian on Thursday March 22nd 2007, 2:42
I i remember correctly there are two different versions of Z.
The win95 version is faster in terms of game play and has more missions.
I have the dos version and I'm unable to install it in wine. But when i had win95 i was able to run it and install and play it without any problem.
But because it's the dos version I have tired it with dosbox and it installs and run like it should.

So... Do you have the dos or the win95 version?
(You could try with dosbox any ways)
