Troubleshooting
Installation
The installer says installation was aborted, even before starting to install files
If you are installing from a CD/DVD, try copying the game disc to your home directory and run it from there.
I chose custom installation and it tells me to select a language pack, even though I have
Use the standard installation mode.
Starting the game
It hangs at the splash screen
Try running winecfg and disable all audio drivers. Of course that is not an acceptable solution, but it will help us to determine where the problem lies.
In-game issues
Some effect settings result in corruption or improperly displayed rendering
Try setting the VFX or Shader quality to a lower setting. Your graphics driver and/or wine may have bugs which result in visual defects at present.
The cursor animation does not play Apply the relevant patches to wine or use a version with the functionality as described in the howto.

Since the historical-theories-of-water.weebly.com/ historical theories of water, water and tea are two inseparable entities. Camellia sinensis leaves need for being brewed in warmed water. The excellence of the water directly affects the quality in the tea. Therefore, pinpointing the quality regarding water is an essential skill for just about any master tea beer maker.

by keghn on Thursday August 30th 2012, 20:51
I get a black screen and the game's mouse pointer
on Wine 1.4, and Wine 1.5.11.
I get this on Kane's Wrath. I have not tried Wine on CNC3,

I ran the game with:
wine cnc3ep1.exe
and
optirun wine cnc3ep1.exe
I got the same results.
Is there a way of getting out of wine. I have been using alt+ctl+f6 to
get out to a new terminal then log back in. I try to run my
x sever "sudo mdm" but the computer tell me is is still running
and cant use it.
If their is an error log tell me were it is, and name of
the file.

Wine-1.4 update breaks C&C3 and Kane's Wrath
by psytrox on Sunday April 8th 2012, 2:04
After allowing a standard update-manager window alert to install wine-1.4, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars and Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath will not run. I am able to get through the splash video, but the resolution is different now, and I have it set for windowed mode. When the EA splash is finished, I keep getting the name dialog window; it always appears now. I enter a name and the game(CNC3.exe) crashes with the following terminal output:

I attempted to revert wine back to 1.3x, but nothing seemed to make it work again. I have been playing both games without issue for a few weeks, until this update. It may be a kernel problem, as that was a possible additional update at the same time.

Sounds cuts out after 5 minutes, then 5/10 minutes later the game crashes
by Throne777 on Wednesday March 30th 2011, 11:00
So after sorting out the 'No DVD' error by applying a No CD/DVD crack, I've been able to get the game to run by forcing it to run windowed. However, the sound cuts out after the game has been running for about 5 minutes or so (regardless of what you are doing, it seems -when the sound is running, the sound isn't synced properly to the cutscenes). Then about 5 or 10 minutes after this, the whole game crashes & closes.
(On a side note, should this game really have a platinum rating? I've tried several times before using earlier versions of wine and earlier versions of Ubuntu & I've never once been able to get it to work properly, each time getting different errors at different points)
Can't even install in Ubuntu 9.10
by Sam on Sunday February 21st 2010, 7:02
I've trawled the posts and other forums and can't seem to understand why I can't run this game on my system. I have wine 1.1.39 for ubuntu and am trying to install Command and Conquer 3. The splash screen comes up and then it just doesn't go any further and stops. The terminal output includes things about NVIDIA and openGL and then a whole lot of d3d9 in it... (it's quite long so I won't post it here)

by Stephen on Wednesday September 2nd 2009, 16:44
Ok I'm vary new to mac and installed Darwin version 1.1.21 and then realized that i needed a new version so i downloaded 1.1.9 I just dragged it to the apps folder and clicked "replace" I'm not sure if that is all it talks to update or if you have to uninstall the old one first. then i put in my T3 disk and double clicked and i got a list of files some of which had the Darwin logo as there icon one was called "AUTORUN.EXE" the other "SETUP.EXE" when i double click ether of them they appear in the process window and a little text box appears saying "version 1" when i close the text box they disappear from the process window

Crashes if looses focus
by Stefan on Wednesday August 26th 2009, 15:55
I've got it running on ubuntu 9.04 amd64, wine 1.18.
I could solve hanging splash screen by setting up a virtual desktop (800x600) but was able to increase resolution later in the game and to remove the virtual desktop afterwards.
Sound works good (at least for a while) using Esound.
I didn't have time for in depth testing but will post my results.
One issue remains: If the game looses focus (ie: the mouse moves outside the window and clicks) the game will crash.

1.1.26 hang 1.1.25 works perfectly
by Matthew Southgate on Friday July 24th 2009, 23:45
In WINE version 1.1.26 it appears to hang during the start up.
The splash screen appears and stays there, but the application doesn't start. In Wine 1.1.25 It works perfectly, and I managed to get Kane's Wrath working without a No DVD crack.
So I reverted to 1.1.25, anybody else get this error?
Not all mouse cursors show
by Edward on Friday July 3rd 2009, 11:56
I used playonlinux to install cnc3, which has done is flawlessly. Network and mouse patches have been applied. I can see a mouse cursor in game, however when i select a unit, the mouse cursor is gone. When I unselect a unit, the mouse cursor is visible again. Is this normally what happens with the cursor fix?
Random Crashes
by Edward on Sunday June 28th 2009, 11:01
Game works perfect under the new wine versin 1.1.23!
Videos, network, mouse, sound all work. The only problem is I get random crashes. Could be 5 minutes, could be an hour.
