Application fails to start
by Louis Fortier on Saturday October 6th 2007, 15:22
Valve's Hammer Editor fails to start when using Wine 0.9.46. The Source SDK program starts fine, but when I try launching Hammer, the application shows up with the splash screen but closes right after. This means I cannot even get to the stage of creating a new map to test the OpenGL window bug. I see various error messages when running Steam from the console (most of them seem harmless), but the fatal one seems to be:
>>wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000004 at address 0x7d6b59e6 (thread 0008), starting debugger...
>>Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000004 in 32-bit code (0x7d6b59e6).
I'm running Kubuntu 7.04 with Beryl/AIGLX. My video card is an ATI X800 GTO with the latest open-source drivers. As stated above, I'm using Wine 0.9.46.
What I've tried so far (in vain):
- Turning Beryl on/off
- Activate Wine's desktop
- Tried under Win2000, XP, Vista and 98 (Steam is no longer supported under win98)
- Tried with/without sound drivers in the Audio tab of winecfg.
Flickering screen
by XeroXer on Saturday April 14th 2007, 8:40
When the screen starts to flicker and goes mainly black.
Try changing the camera windows all to 2D view.
The same problem is in the earlier versions and if you only create in 2D mode it works fine
