Used the XPLOSIV DVD version with a Gigabyte Nvidia GTS 250 on Linux Mint 10 32bit.
Wine configured to Windows 2000
Copied files on DVD to a folder in Wine C:
Went to http://howto.landure.fr/gnu-linux/install-directx-9-0c-on-linux-using-wine as recommended.
Followed the instructions in the active movie installation segment (copied and pasted commands in that segment only) with Wine configured to Windows 2000 (configured to Windows XP produced errors)
Went to DirectX9 folder in files copied from DVD, ran DXSETUP.exe
Ran Setup.exe to install X3
When starting the game in graphics config ticked troubleshooting "alternative video playback" (otherwise crashed for me).
I have to let first movie (newsreader at start) run for a moment before pressing escape if I want to skip it, else sound disapppears.
