Same old, same old
by Jareel on Wednesday July 9th 2008, 8:49
Wine 1.1.0; Slackware 12.1

Still in the same exact state as described in all previous versions of wine. At the server screen (after the country selection), the whole screen turns gray (virtual desktop window flickers gray, is more readable, but interferes with any further images). I tried to run PnkBstrB.exe in a separate terminal, but it doesn't help even if it is running. Here's some error outputs from it (particularly after PnkBstrB.exe crashed):

bash-3.1$ wine PnkBstrB.exe
fixme:ntdll:RtlNtStatusToDosErrorNoTeb no mapping for 8000000a
err:service:service_control_dispatcher failed to create control pipe error = 317
bash-3.1$ wine PnkBstrB.exe
fixme:ntdll:RtlNtStatusToDosErrorNoTeb no mapping for 8000000a

Punk buster - inititialization failed - a pity :-(
by LordBeeDoO on Sunday January 6th 2008, 10:34
I have tested to run WarRock in wine 0.9.52

Installation runs flawlessly with no bugs and no problems without any issues. The only necessary thing is to Cancel installation of DX9.

Then, updates run without problems.

After starting of warrock I see every text correctly, mouse behaves also correctly, I can change settings withou problem, I can connect to servers etc.

But after a while game is terminated with:

You were kicked by PunkBaster - Communication with PunkBuster failed. PunkbusterB.exe initialization failed.

Same error with all windows versions, no error in console.

It is a pity, without this issue, the game would be Platinum :-(

Configuration?
by Mike on Thursday December 6th 2007, 12:46
Hi
I've installed wine 0.9.33. later I read here how to upgrade it onto 0.9.50.

But now I don't have the possibility to change the options like in the version before. I want to create a seperate graphic window for wine. but I don't know how to set this option :(

is there any configuration program? the old one of 0.9.33 doesn't work with the new version.

anyone gotten past Punkbuster?
by Klas Lothe on Thursday November 8th 2007, 16:27
There must be some way to make Punkbuster happy. I think the game itself will work pretty close to platinum... I have experienced ONCE getting into the game itself. on the map Emblem. I got actual graphics but PB kicked me out. And it seemed to go smooth enough! And Im not running Ubuntu on a superPC.

So if there is anybody out there with some knowledge on how to fix the PB-problem, please help.

Wine 48
by Somethief on Friday October 26th 2007, 14:59
PB status:
2k: Runs but kicks for Unkown windows API function after couple mins
XP: Driver failure
Vista: Fails to update (Works after it downloads some files) but crashes

Sound still works without patching and this time I managed to get ingame to notice that mouse bug is still there.
Meaning you can only turn untill your mouse pointer reached the edge of window (Would be ~ 90 degrees turn ingame)

WarRock and wine 47
by Somethief on Saturday October 13th 2007, 16:48
Wine 47 seems great. Alot fixes in crypt32.
So how is WarRock running?
+ Sound now working without patching
- PunkBuster never seems to update :(

As another plus, WarRock's new patch finally marks password-enabled rooms with an image of a key :)

by Somethief on Monday September 24th 2007, 7:04

Haven't figured out why it doesn't work but I'll try..

(Sry new post, nested mode was getting abit too tight :) )

err:winedevice:ServiceMain driver L"501fbfk7" failed to load
by Warren Dumortier on Sunday September 23rd 2007, 3:15
Warrock is beginning to work!

Installing can be done by installing dcom98, with winetricks or manually!
Also setting wine to xp or vista is needed ;)
very simple and installs correctly, updates, and you can also go ingame update ounkbuster and connect to a server!

But always hangs with this error:
err:winedevice:ServiceMain driver L"501fbfk7" failed to load

I don't know if this is a huge problem to resolve...

Status
by Somethief on Tuesday September 18th 2007, 12:12
Just reporting my status with it..
With 45 (wine-0.9.45-g0bd29b1):
+ It runs smoother than with 44
+ PB setup works (It downloads newest updates)
- PB fails with Initialization failure. When using WinNT+ it fails with B (B aka the pb itself, CryptQueryObject still not working). With Win98- it fails with A (A aka the updater, Dno why).
- The mouse bug is still there (It doesn't reset mouse position so when the pointer comes out/to the edge of the window you cant turn anymore in game)

[post new] [reply to this]

neat:)
by Klas Lothe on Sunday August 26th 2007, 11:36
Thats great:) The PB doesnt recognize that you have updated. Could also seem that the game thinks PB is updating because PB wont let the game through. Last time i tried and got into the game, an an earlier version of wine, i got a PB error. something about the OS privileges or something.

by Somethief on Monday July 16th 2007, 15:08
For me the game runs (i got it installed under windoze and it works using those files) but the graphics suck and i cant see 90% of the text. For me punkbuster doesnt start whining if i join a game fast but then i get directdraw errors and the game crashes with "fixme:xrandr:X11DRV_XRandR_SetCurrentMode Cannot change screen BPP from 32 to 16". The problem is that i cant change the options to prevent this :(

Question for Klas Lothe :)
by Warren Dumortier on Monday June 18th 2007, 6:10
Hi!
I see that you could run it with one of the latest Wine...
Could you explain what you did?
I could install it with some dll overrides but id didn't luanch!
Please help us!
Thanx

Let it work...
by Warren Dumortier on Sunday June 10th 2007, 13:06
WarRock was the best game when I was on Windows and I tried to let it work with Wine!

The installer doesn't work, this is simple to resolve (thanks irc):
1/Have cabextract installed on your distro
2/Download DCOM98.EXE
3/Extract: cabextract DCOM98.EXE
4/Copy these files in the directory of WarRock's installer: oleaut32.dll ole32.dll, rpcrt4.dll
5/Open winecfg and set these 3 dlls to native
6/Installer should work now!

Install the updates, works :)

But then when the game will luanch it will fail :(
Google helped me and I've found this:
forum.warrock.net/index.php?showtopic=59109

Follow the instructions and now it's better but then you have this error:

fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 59 (SPI_SETSTICKYKEYS)
fixme:win:WIN_CreateWindowEx Parent is HWND_MESSAGE

How to fix this?
I can't patch or program so I will not be able to let WarRock working but maybe if a programmer or a patcher could help me/us it would be nice...
