Old test results
The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
What works
Login.
Setting options, and things like setting call forwarding.
General GUI seems fine.
Starting a call ( but not completing ! ).
You need to install, then use winecfg to set to run under Win98 mode and with the shlwapi.dll and shldocvw.dll, as for previous versions.
What does not
Call completion. This seems to be the same as an existing bug for version 3.0.
See bug 8138 for more info.
It crashes when the call is answered ( at the the other end ).
What was not tested
Parts of GUI.
Obviously nothing after failed called completion, so sound quality unknown.
Answering a call.
Additional Comments
Rated garbage as call completion fails and it is, after all, a VOIP application.
And, for the record, I found The Skype Linux 1.4 alpha refuses to login, so it's effectively useless ( so at least the wine team can say they've got more running than Skype's own Linux team ! ).
Note this was under PCLinuxOS 2007 TR4.
1. Install Wine 0.9.40 (verified) and begin with a fresh ~./wine directory.
2. Install Skype 3.2.0.163 (verified) from http://www.skype.com and the SkypeSetup.exe file. The installer should run flawlessly.
3.
Run #winecfg and select Windows 98 mode for Skype.exe if it's not
already done. You may use the ALSA sound driver with this program,
however OSS will work just as well.
4. Use Skype!
Known Problems:
- Skype cannot login unless Win98 mode is selected, however after initial login, any modern Windows mode can be used.
