Multiplayer on LAN
by Simon Tomoko on Wednesday April 3rd 2013, 21:18
Hello, dusted this one off today and installed it to my HD. Haven't played it in a long time. I noticed the multiplayer has not been tested so I am trying it with the following settings;

I am using 2 WINE shortcuts to run the same game twice. The first is my default using: wine '/media/drive_c/Splinter Cell CT/System/splintercell3.exe' then my other link uses: env WINEPREFIX="/home/simon/.wine-X" wine '/media/drive_c/Splinter Cell CT/System/splintercell3.exe'

I ran my default and went coop --> LAN --> create
Now I minimized and ran the other with coop --> LAN --> join

So far so good, I can see the session, join and hit ready. But when I flip to my default the player is no longer ready. I don't have anyone else to play or test with and I am certain by now the server is down on this old game. But I believe this is not an issue with WINE and is caused by me running 2 virtual versions or maybe when the game window loses focus.

I doubt people would want to play anything other than solo but I wanted to share my results with the WINE community.

See if this helps with getting it to run
by A.G.R. on Friday December 25th 2009, 8:33
I'm using openSuSE 11.1-64 with wine 1.1.34.

The game began working on my machine (almost) flawlessly once I changed "DirectDrawRenderer" from "gdi" (default) to "opengl". Normally "gdi" is supposed to be the 'slow and reliable' option (see wiki.winehq.org/UsefulRegistryKeys for reference), but certain games seem to work better with "opengl" (even Fallout 1 in my case, which makes question marks dance in front of my eyes).

If you set the game's resolution to the one you use on your desktop, even tabbing out of the game works fine, even though you may have to tab back and forth a bit to free the mouse pointer (having a maxed out window open when running the game helps here); to get back into the game I have to use Gnome's show-desktop applet first.

Heh, actually I came here to see whether anyone has already posted something on how to get rid of the inconsistent lighting (dimming and brightening of lights when moving the view around) and especially the problem I have with sounds jumping freely between left and right - they hardly ever come from the direction of the source.
These flaws are not game-breaking, though, so I'm happy so far.
Indeed, SCCT runs far better than SC1 on my machine. SC1 bombards me with graphical glitches that do make the game unplayable.

startup failure

When I start up the game, it prompts the disc check, then it crashes...

StarForce cracked
by Alex on Thursday September 27th 2007, 7:17
You know, SCCT has actually been cracked and the protection removed, however when I try the game under wine, it just crashes with an unhandled exception.

Can I post a link to the crack so owners of the game may try it out under wine?

(Verus mode indeed seems to work)

I cannot install the game
I run setup and get this:
I have European version, I think it is below 1.05

InstallShield Wizard

Setup has experienced an error.

Please do the following:
- Close any running program
- Empty your temporary folder
- Check Internet connection (Internet-based Setups)

Then try to run the Setup again.
