Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
What works
Basic data entry works.
Install works.
Update [via Internet] works.
Printing reports work.
Backup works.
Creating and modifying reports works.
Reconcile works.
Transaction splitting works.
What does not
There is a multi-second lag between many functions - for example clicking on "Reconcile" yields about an 8-second lag before the "Reconcile" dialog box appears; clicking "Cancel" in the "Reconcile" dialog box yields a 10-second delay - which may simply be due to my underpowered machine [Duron 800mhz, 512mb, NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 32mb]. It seems that 10-seconds seems to be about the average lag time for pretty much any function change, though changing accounts [not files] averages about 16 seconds.
Loading any page w/graphics draws very slowly, though this too may be a problem related to my machine configuration.
What was not tested
Transaction download, bill paying ... I don't use these features.
Additional Comments
Inital install bombed because of a conflict w/Ubuntu security upgrade. However, the Preloader Page Zero Problem fix described in WineWiki was an easy fix. All worked very smoothly -though slowly - after applying that patch.
I plan on doing more testing, but was happy that the basic system installed on Ubuntu 8.04 with little trouble at all. I am not happy about the graphics draw time and the general slow response and will be working to see if I can improve or eliminate that problem. Could be the deal-breaker, though, if I can't crack it.
