The Wine version in the 1.2-rc1 test was really 1.1.42 so the reference to what was working is to version 1.1.41 although it says 1.1.42 in one place.

Wine configuration
Igor Engraver 1.7 runs best in Windows 98 or Windows ME mode.

IG with 1.3.24
by Alex on Sunday July 31st 2011, 17:56
I've just installed IG, after a heads up from Magnus, and it works with wine 1.3.24.

No midi input as yet, but i will test further the next few days.

The qsynth setup of running it first works here too.

Alex.

Qsynth improving Igor Engraver stability
by Magnus Johansson on Monday July 11th 2011, 14:44
I have noticed that having Qsynth running before starting Igor Engraver not only gives you sound output from Igor Engraver when inputting or playing back (launching Igor Engraver before Qsynth will not yield any sound from Igor Engraver if Qsynth is the sound device used), but also improves Igor Engraver's stability, with fewer Lisp failures.

Windows ME
by Calvin Mitchell on Sunday July 3rd 2011, 19:19
I don't recall much of anything that really worked in WinME (grin).

A standard tip
by Magnus Johansson on Sunday November 28th 2010, 4:14
A standard trick with Igor Engraver, when it becomes buggy, is to delete the file Igor Engraver Preferences in the folder Program Files\Noteheads\Igor Engraver 1.7; a new file is created when you start the program again which will make Igor Engraver run better.

Operating systems and Igor Engraver
by Magnus Johansson on Sunday November 28th 2010, 4:03
Probably due to Microsoft's own update files for Windows XP, Igor Engraver is no longer possible to run on a fully updated version of that operating system. It would be interesting to know if the same is true for Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Bug 22014
by Magnus Johansson on Sunday March 14th 2010, 7:37
After contact with the Fluidsynth developer Pedro Lopez-Cabanillas bug 22014 turned out to be more of a feature in Qsynth than a real bug. To make Igor Engraver access Fluidsynth without changing settings for every session: Open Qsynth and click the button "Setup". Change the "ALSA Sequencer Client ID" to anything else than "pid" in the tab "MIDI" of the dialog window that is shown.

Bug 22015
by Magnus Johansson on Saturday March 13th 2010, 1:10
Bug 22015 was removed considered being a duplicate of 20360. Although the mouse pointer issue was an overlapping one of the two bug reports it seems that the absence of animation in the processing icon mentioned in 22015 is not.

I have submitted bug report 21999 regarding lost underlines in the menu bar, and 22015 regarding strange looking mouse pointer and processing icon.

Playback
by Magnus Johansson on Tuesday March 9th 2010, 15:28
Playback does work. I installed Fluidsynth and its graphical user interface Qsynth and then an SF2 soundfont, deleted the MIDI Through option under Edit -> MIDI -> Synth settings, and selected the Fluidsynth port and finally clicked "Prefer synth for instrument".

The screenshots with N/A as Wine version are from running Igor Engraver in Windows XP. They are there for comparison to the screenshots of running Igor Engraver in Wine.
