What works
Installs.
What does not
Once the program has loaded, the screen is supposed to be managed in an atypical way. Windows are not bordered. But WINE 0.9.57 can't handle this layout in the GUI. As soon as the document (image) panel is rendered to the GUI, the rest of the GUI vanishes and leaves the rest of the application wiondows completely black. And none of this causes any errors or waring messages to be output. I find this to be an odd result, because WINE version 0.9.41 ran Bryce perfectly.
Because another tester wrote that he had fixed Bryce 5.5 under WINE by running vcredist.exe , I recognized that I too had Visual Studio 8 on my XP machine, and also ran vcredist.exe under WINE . But this proved to be a disaster, because that removed some .dll files that were previously in my WINE System32 directory. Yet, differently from the last tester's results, this did not change the behaviour of Bryce in any way.
What was not tested
Once the GUI vanishes (which it did not under WINE 0.9.41,) there is no way to test any features.
