Additional Comments
Installer was run with LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 locale, but showed only squares. Installation finished completely anyway.
The game needs MSXML4 and windows media player 9 to run. These can be installed with winetricks.
When playing the game, the screen would from time to time go black. This was solved by running the configuration file SDCONFIG.exe, and there uncheck the box "YUVテクスチャを利用する" (use YUV textures).
Worth noting is that after installing WMP9 I get lots of warning and error messages whenever I start a program in wine, but no program stops functioning as far as i have seen.
To sum things up I rate this as silver since there so many steps before the game became playable. The game itself runs just fine.

Got the game to run.

After some tweaking around I got the game to run under wine. Still working on getting the videos though. I can hear the video playing and all menus work but no video image yet.
1) First install Windows Media Player 9. It's required by the game.
2) Then run SDConfig.exe and disable YUV Conversion (Last checkbox).
3) Load and mount your DVD/CD and create a Virtual Disk to it in Wine Config.
4) Lastly run the program in virtual desktop mode.
Cheers.
