What works
The installation completed without errors. On completion, it popped up a (native Linux) Firefox window to display the documentation.

The fonts were not antialiased when I started the program. However, switching to either DejaVu fonts (sans, serif, mono) or Vista fonts (Corbel for sans-serif, Cambria for serif, Consolas for monospaced) did give me beautifully antialiased fonts. You just have to find your own script font.

Sound effects work.

The HTML TADS Player Kit uses MIDI. My soundcard's Linux drivers have no MIDI capabilities, so I have TiMidity++ set up as an ALSA server. The HTML Tads Player Kit would only play MIDI for me if I used aconnect to route my Midi Through port into my timidity port. Typing aconnect -i indicated that my Midi Through port was port 0, while my timidity port was at the default 128:0. I needed to type aconnect 0:0 128:0 before running the HTML TADS Player Kit and aconnect -d 0:0 128:0 when done.

What does not
MIDI would hang on the last note when a song stopped playing.

What was not tested
I have not tested the HTML TADS Player Kit on a system whose soundcard drivers can play MIDI natively (such as a Creative Live card with soundfonts loaded via asfxload).

Additional Comments

Tested using version 2 of Stephen Granade's "The Arrival" (http://www.wurb.com/if/game/301), on a completely fresh Wine install (I had no settings or virtual drive before installing the program). Wine is a prebuilt package from slacky.eu.
