HOWTO Run Football Manager 2008 under Wine

Running Football Manager 2008 under Wine

Installing the game

  • You need a Wine version >0.9.48 in order to install the game without the j2re environment
  • Launch winecfg and choose XP as Windows version.
  • Move to the CD directory and run the installer
wine setup.exe

Follow the instructions.

Running and Playing Football Manager 2008

  • Launch winecfg and choose Vista as Windows version.
  • Replace the original fm.exe file with the no-cd version (fm.exe file is located in ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/fm.exe by default). The no-cd file is available on dedicated websites, do not ask here please...
  • Move to FM directory (~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008 by default)
  • Launch the game

wine fm.exe

Use the 8.01 patch
Please use the 8.01 "beta" patch, this version doesn't need a no-cd patch.
