Cuphead is a 2D, side-scrolling run-and-gun platformer with a visual style modeled after the cartoons of the 1930s, namely influenced by Max Fleischer, Grim Natwick and Ub Iwerks to name a few. Journalists and critics alike noted the game's percieved high difficulty, which is counter-balanced by infinite lives and the game mechanic that let's the player keep his/her weapons after deaths. The game has been in development for 7 years, in total of 17 years in conception from release, by brothers Chad and Jared Moldenhauer, and initially was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One on September 29th, 2017. In spite of the limited choices for platforms, ports for macOS and Linux are in the works.
