Additional Comments
Needed to add the CDROM drive D: manually, and set it's type to CDROM. Change EAC to use it's native interface (EAC Options->Interface->"Native Win32 interface for Win NT/2000/XP") and it work like a charm.

Affected Distros: gentoo
This Warning is now outdated, as there are instructions around this on the Gentoo Forums. See http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-386370.html for details.
EAC may require the native wnaspi32.dll to run, which requires IDE SCSI emulation (ide-scsi) support in the kernel. Some kernels have broken ide-scsi CD[/DVD] burning support in the 2.6.x kernel and you may wind up with coasters if you use ide-scsi with your CD[/DVD] burner.
If you have more than one optical drive in your PC you can set ide-scsi to use the non-burning drive and not have this issue. If you have only 1 CD[/DVD] drive (which is also the CD[/DVD] burner)
you may want to set up an entry in your bootloader for ide-scsi
and only boot into it when actually ripping CDs.
growisofs is known to have issues hanging when used in conjuction with ide-scsi in some cases. The kernel development team is aware of the problem and is not interested in fixing it as it is considered deprecated.
