RE: Origin Installer not working

Updated: I rolled back to wine 1.7.9-1, and got a new error log and it crashes saying it can't find the qt platform plugin "windows". The new error log is short so I pasted it below.

PS Any of the releases I have tried >=1.8.1-1 gave me the same errors as my original comment.

Same problem here. Not installing with OriginSetup.exe on 1.9.19 and earlier Wine versions.

Same trouble here. I've compared client logs (C:\users\Public\Application Data\Origin/Logs/Client_Log) form working windows10 and wine. They both have some errors about configuration, but in wine there is one error more:

"Error OriginApplication::OriginApplication 9 Origin client failed to create the OpenGL display context - must exit"

One of you should report a bug for that. Just go to bugs.winehq.org/ and read and follow the instructions. When you're done set this AppDB entry as "affected".

In the bug report you may point out, that several people are affected here in this thread (however a "me too" in the bug report itself is not useful).
Since this seems to be graphics related (opengl) please tell you're hardware specs.

I find a workaround on this page : forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/899172/new-origin-how-to-update-scaling-oversize-issue-fixed-in-beta
You need to install an old version of Origin from this link : www.dm.origin.com/download/legacy

Now I can start Origin and Dead Space 3.

Yeah, thx, legacy worked! Able to run client an SimCity2013

In winecfg should select Windows version WindowsXP. I think this prevents clint from upgrading.
