Encarta

What works

Everything works perfectly - interactive features, videos, sounds, Mind Maze, timeline, etc - with workarounds.

Installed in win32 bottle configured for Windows XP. Requires winetricks (corefonts, tahoma, directshow, icodecs), see "Workarounds" below for installation instructions.

What does not

Won't display some fonts, and won't play videos. Sound, Mind Maze and interactive features appear to work properly.

Workarounds

Installation instructions:

1. Create win32 bottle configured for Windows XP.
2. Install additional requirements inside bottle "winetricks -q corefonts tahoma directshow icodecs"
3. Copy Encarta 98 CD contents to the C: drive
4. Install with "wine 'C:\Encarta98\SETUP.EXE'"
5. You can now run it perfectly inside the bottle!

Step 3 is required if you want to run Encarta98 without the CD. You have to keep the CD data in the C: drive after installation for it to work properly.
