ROS is an experimental digital modem software that enables two-way radio communication on amateur radio frequencies. It works by converting text messages into audio tones (and vice-versa) according to the ROS mode protocol, developed by the same author. The ROS mode is especially useful when radio signals are very weak and/or incur in strong fading: inaudible signals lower than -30 dB can still be copied. The software features automatic logging and e-mail reporting of radio contacts made and stations heard, editable macros, selectable speed and bandwidth, waterfall display and CAT support.
