Space Cowboy is an air combat MMO set on a human colony world, Phillon. Which the Phillons and some other alien folk called the Shrines also seem to lived on/occupied before the humans arrived, thus the 'combat' in air combat. Not to say that humans always get along in this game--this sets the backdrop for both 1-on-1 and larger scale PvP (called "Nation War"). The story is mostly disposable, but the gameplay is fairly amusing.
The player has a choice of one of four specialized flying machines, or Gears, at character creation and can, after a few missions, choose between two human factions.
The game is free to obtain and free to play. Special and high-quality items may be purchased with a second in-game currancy (as opposed to the one which one may recieve for free in the course of defeating enemies, completing missions, etc.) which is purchased with actual cash-money, this is not necessary for playing or completing the game.
