Independence War

The original Independence War (also known as I-War). You are the captain of a military space ship in the future navy. A civil war brews between the Commonwealth and the Indies, and you will be the deciding factor.

While the sequel has many graphical and other enchancements/improvements (including a more involving story-line), this original had me hooked with what it was: a realistic, military space simulation with great attention to detail. This game is probably noteworthy as one of, if not THE, first space sims to have newtonian physics.
