Tag: the Power of Paint is a first person shooter / puzzle game developed by the Tag Team.
Tag's defining feature is the ability to paint surfaces certain color to give them different physical properties. A surface painted a certain color can cause players to jump, move faster, or adhere to the painted surface as if by gravity. Internally, these abilities are called "jump", "speed", and "stick" respectively.
Using painted surfaces is critical to completing, or "solving", every level of the game.
Tag was developed at the DigiPen Institute of Technology by the Tag Team, and at the 2009 IGF was the winner of Student Showcase and Best Student Game. The Tag Team was eventually hired by Valve Software and used many of the same elements for creating Portal 2, to which can be thought of as a spiritual successor to Tag. This very much mirrors the story of Narbacular Drop, whose DigiPen student team was also hired by Valve and later created Portal.
