NoteTab on Linux Yahoo Group

There is a Yahoo Group for NoteTab users who run Linux.

All Linux distributions are welcome and all version of NoteTab are welcome.

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/ntb-linux/

I am not aware of any Gentoo users on that list, but we have Debian, Ubuntu, and Slackware users.

HOWTO

I have the best success with Wine if I uninstall the old version of Wine before installing the new version.

I keep a copy of the install for the version that I know works, so if the new version of Wine introduces new issues, I can easily roll back to a working configuration.

All the user settings are unaffected by uninstalling Wine. All user settings are kept under /home/username/.wine.

If you want to try a completely new install of NoteTab or any other Windows program and preserve your settings, you can rename the .wine directory in your user directory. There have been no issues that have required this for a couple of years.

No special settings have been required to get NoteTab Light or Standard to work with recent versions of Wine. At one point, we did have to copy the Richedit dlls from Windows. This was not needed for installation, only to get text display and actions to work correctly. NoteTab Pro does not rely on the Richedit dlls.

The best place for questions on NoteTab and Linux is the Yahoo Group.http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/ntb-linux/
