HowTo / Notes

HOWTO
Follow the HOWTO from HOMMV without expansions. If experience shadows problem. To fix this you need set this registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D\OffscreenRenderingMode to "fbo". Eventuality you may edit the ~/My Games/Heroes of Might and Magic V/Profiles//user_a1.cfg, find line "setvar gfx_noshadows = 1" and change it to "setvar gfx_noshadows = 0". This disables shadows at all - game works faster without shadows enabled.

msvcp71.dll error
by Aliekezhi on Thursday January 9th 2014, 18:14
My Heroes 5 was always working, but suddenly, with no apparent reason I had those errors :

err:msvcp:mutex_ctor Out of memory
err:module:attach_process_dlls "msvcp71.dll" failed to initialize, aborting

A workaround is to go in winecfg, Dll overrides, and add msvcp71.dll to native
need to download update
by Jozsef Bekes on Monday May 24th 2010, 16:26
See here: bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22833

I had to download a patch from here:
www.ubi.com/DE/Downloads/Info.aspx?dlId=2104

Otherwise the game did not start. Now it seems to work okay (so far I have created a new game, nothing else) under wine 1.2-rc1.
