Synchronising the phone: calendar items, addressbook items, texts and files can all be moved between the phone and MPE. It syncs the list of calls made/received/missed. Can also edit/delete/add addressbook and calendar events, which synchronise correctly. The phone alarm can be controlled fully. Can explore phone/Memory Stick memory and upload/download/delete items. Phone Monitor reports phone status correctly, Memory Status shows phone memory status correctly. Synchronising iCal files across network. Installing Java programs. Multi-sync, phone keypad, syncing clock via the Internet, create
backup worked fine.
What does not
Synchronising phone calendar with Google Calendar (crashes the program, lots of fixme:msxml errors). Workaround: use the private iCal feeds that Google Calendar provides in the Settings section for each calendar.
Clicking on an image file in the Memory Stick memory makes the program crash with the error: "wine: Call from 0x7b8448e0 to unimplemented function gdiplus.dll.GdipLoadImageFromFile, aborting". Workaround: mount the phone as a storage device and then browse using native file explorer. This is done automatically in my installation of Ubuntu 7.04.
Installing multiple Java programs at once. Workaround: install them one at a time!
What was not tested
Extras -> Customize Info SMS
Extras -> Image Wizard
Extras -> Restore Backup
Quite a bit of fiddling about is necessary to get this program running - see http://www.fjsoft.at/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2838 - but once installed, almost everything that I tried worked, including all core functionality, and easy workarounds exist for the few problem areas.
