Virtually everything works, though not 100% perfectly.
*Installation went fine for the Civ 4 disc and the Warlords expansion disc out-of-the-box. When I tried to install Beyond the Sword, the installer kept crashing. I was able to solve this problem by using winetricks to install a bunch of software... including directx, msxml, fonts, dotnet, and a number of others. After this, the install gave me an error pop-up, but installed perfectly anyway.
*The game runs quite smoothly. I notice no difference in gameplay speed compared with Windows Vista.
*The sound doesn't work perfectly. Music and sound effects stutter a bit, so it's best to leave the music turned off for now.
*Visually the game looks great, but the progress bars over the city that display orange for population and blue for production progress do not appear. You can still find out the info with a mouse hover, so it doesn't effect game play.
*Saving, loading, mods... all of it worked perfectly. I played a few games from start to finish with absolutely no problems except for the 2 sound and video anomalies mentioned above.
What does not
Aside from the topics mentioned above, and the trouble with installation (which will be a headache for many people, I believe), everything appears to work perfectly.
What was not tested
I haven't tested multiplayer yet.

note: you have to use external msxml3.dll
(I doubt these are not needed anymore msxml3r.dll, d3dx9_26.dll, d3dx9_31.dll, d3dx9_32.dll, d3dx9_33.dll
i ran the game (and the installer) with:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="msxml3=n" wine "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe"
multiplayer over LAN works using vanilla BTS. multiplayer with mods requires DIRECT IP CONNECTION method.
INTERNET GAMES and PBEM were not tested. only multiplayer over LAN is confirmed.
