Installation from Retail CD works. The Game automatically updates to v1.61. Single player gameplay works. Scenarios work. The Tutorial works. The game works well with Highest setting graphics with little slowing down. However, make it so that the Screen Options in Wineskin are set to "override" because otherwise the game's screen will be cutoff at higher resolutions. Strange graphical errors: 1) Sometimes the mouse pointer can make up its mind to be a Pointer, Loader, Text Editor, etc. 2) Sometimes Tribes do not show up, neither do certain city buildings on the landscape. 3) When game starts up, you get a Pale Dialog Box instead of the Image of "Civilization" Dialog Box
What does not
Running the Game cold (without any modifications) does NOT work. The game NEEDS certain files installed (as taken from other Wine Testers): 1) msxml3 2) d3dx9 3) vcrun2003 Then pick up a NO-CD Crack file for v1.61 of Civ 4 (at your own risk) Go to: http://www.freeinfosociety.com/site.php?postnum=1035
What was not tested
Multiplayer was not tested. I was able to start a MP game, but I do not have an online account, nor anyone else to try and LAN with, so I didn't play with any other person. Looks promising, but haven't put it to the full test.
Definitely does not work "out of the box", and the small graphical errors can be a little annoying. But is definitely playable.

note: you have to use external msxml3.dll
(I doubt these are not needed anymore msxml3r.dll, d3dx9_26.dll, d3dx9_31.dll, d3dx9_32.dll, d3dx9_33.dll
i ran the game (and the installer) with:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="msxml3=n" wine "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe"
multiplayer over LAN works using vanilla BTS. multiplayer with mods requires DIRECT IP CONNECTION method.
INTERNET GAMES and PBEM were not tested. only multiplayer over LAN is confirmed.
