What works

Everything seems to work 100% including the dedicated server, pixel shaders, internet play, bots, voice chat, IRC chat, automatic map downloading

What does not

The C# map-editor, for obvious reasons. This will probably never work as it makes heavy use of C# interop (?) and the heavy use of DLLs etc... (not a surprise here)

Workarounds

What was not tested

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO
  1. Install via Steam storefront (demo or retail - remember, demo is free for lan play, and every saturday during Hyper Hour, so you can see how well this thing plays on your machine without having to (ever) buy it)
  2. Copy D3DX9_31.dll from elsewhere in your system / on the internet, or use cabextract on the D3D redists that ship in the /redists/ folder that it installs when it installs the game.
  3. Copy that file into the installation folder (alongside Hyperbol.exe).  Usualy this is in ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Steam/steamapps/common/tshb/
  4. Add the following to its command line parameters by right clicking on it in steam and choosing "properties

-noredists -nomovies -windows -width 1280 -height 1024

(altering the width and height as appropariate)

Works fine with Compiz and without (although steam does not!)

ATI Users note

From some recent testing it has been discovered that while the game works flawlessly (including pixel shaders!) on my nVidia card, for some reason, it doesn't work at all on ATI hardware.

I'm not sure if this is a bug in WINE, or a bug in the ATI driver.  I have to assume the latter, because it works great in WINE/nVidia.
