What works

AutoCAD 2000 R14 MDT R4 works successfully with CrossOver 18.5.0 for Linux. Almost every thing works including 3D solids and AutoCAD's built-in rendering feature. Printing and Plotting work great with Linux's CUPS spooling feature. AutoCAD 2000 runs quite fast in a Windows 2000 CrossOver bottle on a HP TouchSmart Model IQ840 Desktop computer with 8GB of RAM and 512GB Hard Disk partition, running OpenSUSE Leap 15.0 and Nvidia G03 graphics drivers. The only thing that doesn't work correctly is the AutoCAD's help category window doesn't display the categories in the help window. However, the help search feature does work for looking up AutoCAD commands.

What does not

The only thing that doesn't work correctly is the AutoCAD's help category window doesn't display the categories in the help window.

Workarounds

Additional Comments

AccuRender Version 3 Build 265, March 5, 2001, was tested and although AccuRender menu works fine within AutoCAD 2000 R14 MDT R4, the AccuRender Version 3 rendering engine locked up AutoCAD to where the only way to get out of it was to open a terminal window, search for the AutoCAD process ID number and kill that process as root user.

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO

by NSLW on (March 26th 2009)

Installing

    1. Use recent version of Wine(tested with Wine-1.1.17)

    2. Download winetricks by following command

 wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks

    3. Install required components by following command

sh winetricks corefonts tahoma

It will take some time because winetricks will download all above components

     4. Change Screen Resolution in Wine configuration by typing

winecfg

Then go to Graphics tab and change Screen Resolution from 96 to 108

     (workaround given by )
    5. navigate to your AutoCAD R14 CD and run

wine setup.exe

PlayOnLinux way

You can install your AutoCAD R14 using PlayOnLinux (some kind of gui for Wine). I think it's the easiest method because script will tell you step by step what to do. To do so you'll need:

    1. PlayOnLinux

    2. POL Helper plug-in

WARNING
Do not use Wine 1.1.19 because in this version there is a regression which causes toolbars to be mis-sized.
