Upgrading the rating to "bronze".
In this version of Wine, the main window is now visible although it will not start maximized as it should. Once the program starts the tiny window can be resized manually.
I also discovered that setting the windows version to "NT 3.5" for SIMCITY.EXE lets the game save and load cities, so it is playable.
Program starts up, can create and build a new city, and the simulator runs. Now can save and load cities too.
What does not
-music did not play
-sound effects would play bits of the wrong sound.
-UI feels very sluggish.
-save/load crashes if winver is not set to NT 3.5 for simcity.exe.
What was not tested
Did not test the setup. Imported a reg file with the contents of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Maxis from another machine instead.
Note: This is the Win32 version, from the version.inf file: SimCity 2000 Windows 95 Release 1.0 Internal Version .022 5:30 PM 8/14/95
