What works

I have installed Wine on OpenSUSE 11.0 (final) and Wine doors, and have install all Windows programs available inside Wine doors like Windows Explorer 6 etc.

After that I download gom encoder fromt he internet and installed. The setup ask for installing some codex... so i did. After that the program runs perfect.

Drag and drop workt and now it really loads your file (AVI) (the last time it did not). I select my samsung P2 (SVI) output and press the start button.

The encoding works.

What does not

When the encoding is running the program frames freezes, when you minimize the window and maximize is again, but when you leave the window open it's running fine.

the time indicator is not working so you can' t see how far the encoding proces is going.

When the encoding is done the last frame is visible but no indication that it' s done.

Just quite the program and NOT delete the file and you will be ok ;)

Workarounds

What was not tested

1) only test one avi file for now, and no other files.
2) only tested the P2 output
