I used d3dxof.dll, dinput.dll and dinput8.dll overrides. Game starts, graphics seem normal. Flying with mouse works, looking around works. Tried both windows 2000 and 98, did not seem to make difference
What does not
Assigning controls in setup panel.
I get a dialogue saying:
"The device or device instances is not registered with device input. This value is equal to the REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG standard COM return value"
So I can not add keyboard commands or anything, nor can I assign my sticks, so game play is still without joystick, which makes a flight sim rather unplayable.
What was not tested
Playing online or longer gameplay in-depth
Wonder if the message is from registry key missing and if I could manually insert one - perhaps look it up from real windows registry for the game... Wonder how all the screenshots show the game running windowed - I only have it fullscreen...
