The program seems work ok (inserting lamps, controlling them manually).
It may be useful for learning the app and program light shows without controlling actual hardware.
Using it for cotrolling DMX hardware attached to the pc is half of the joy, but most people has a dedicated pc for controlling light shows etc.
What does not
1. Exit through the window manager. If the app is closed by clicking on the X in the title bar, it can not be restarted normally. On the next start-up, a dialog says "A previous instance is allready running!".
Choosing exit in the file menu works fine.
2. Some menu items is invisible.
3. The EnttecUSB Pro is not recognises (a serial interface, connected to a FTDIchipUSB-serial converter, shows up as /dev/ttyUSB0
What was not tested
Automation, cues etc. 3D viewer. The most, actually.
Use Q Light Controller + LLA instead, if you can live without all the features from Freestyler.
