EasyGPS 1.3.7 will be the last release of EasyGPS for Windows 98, ME, and NT. EasyGPS 2.0 relies on new Microsoft technologies (GDI+ for graphics, MSXML 3.0 for GPX support, Unicode for international language support), and despite my efforts to keep EasyGPS compatible with older versions of Windows, several serious issues have been discovered that cause data loss and printing errors on Windows 98.

What was not tested

I was only able to test using a serial Garmin eTrex Legend GPS and a USB Garmin GPSMap 60CSx.

Non Garmin USB receivers may or may not work because I am unsure of their Linux support. Any serial device should work but I am not certain.

HOWTO Setup GPS COM Ports Workaround

There is a bug in wine that doesn't allow EasyGPS to determine the available COM ports. This prevents you from configuring what port(s) to use when communicating with your GPS receiver.

To get EasyGPS to communicate with your GPS, you need to edit the registry.

Find the keys under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TopoGrafix\Common\GPS Receivers

Those are your configured GPS receiver(s). Select one and change the com port value to the configured com port it is connected to. Restart EasyGPS and it will work. If your GPS is USB, be sure that it is NOT configured as USB in EasyGPS.
