At first the game didn't start because it was missing MSVCP60.DLL. After copying that DLL over from Windows the loading screen appeared but then it crashed shortly after.

As of Wine 1.1.12 the dsound crash is gone, now there is a different problem, without a native quartz.dll you cannot get past the EULA. Also required is a replacement winemp3.acm codec, download http://www.codec-download.de/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=104 and run the installer, copy l3codecp.acm to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/winemp3.acm and the game should work.
