I run everything under wine in virtual desktop mode (see winecfg) and window scales to 1024x768 in this case, so it's almost the same as windowed mode. Game crashed just once after killing few rangers (over 50 hours played in total). Apart that, everything is ok. You need d3d DLL's overrides to run the game.

Game crash when switching to planetary mode

Rare game crashes may be experienced when a player engages into planetary battle mode. They are observed in native windows systems too and are not due to wine bug or any issue of this sort.
