Street Wars: Constructor Underground

Street Wars is a totally original game that blends together the excitement and drama of real-time-strategy games with the brain-burn of the best exploration, construction and management sims. All this, and it manages not to take itself too seriously.

Begin by establishing some building resources then construct some shady businesses to bring in money and to expand your family of workers and gangsters. As you progress through the game, new characters will become available, like the infamous Undesirables, who, for a price, will carry out your wildest desires of violence and mayhem.

As your gangster empire expands you encounter other "families" trying to muscle in on your territory. They will use every trick in the book to disrupt your business activities and try to prevent you from expanding too far and carrying out your Godfather's missions.

Played in five different cities, each providing a different game environment with numerous unique missions to complete in each of them.

Death, destruction, mindless violence - it's all there but done in the best possible taste. There is something in Street Wars for every game's player. Don't be the only one not playing it this year ...

What works

Installation was succesfull. After applying a nocd crack, the game starts correctly. Gameplay works, movies work, sound works, missions work. Played the complete tutorial ( a few hours ).

What does not

If not launched from within it's own directory, the game complains about a install.dat file it can't find.

Since the game is 800x600 res, and my monitor doesn't support that, I needed to make sure I was using a virtual desktop (winecfg).

Some problems were due to opensuse : /dev/nvidia[..] had not the right permissions. Also alsa sound was stuttering, and this was solved by selection oss in winecfg. Probably due to pulseaudio stuff.

HowTo / Notes

Download Street Wars from this mirror:

(original link [slow]:

  1. Extract Files to a Location (Desktop, Documents, wherever is fine!)
  2. If you have a saved game you can continue it via copying the SAVEGAME files to Street Wars Constructor Underworld/SAVEGAME if you are doing this copy the SETTINGS files into Wars Constructor Underworld/SETTINGS
  3. Open up terminal and CD your way to Street Wars Constructor Underworld, or you can just double click the application (Better to use terminal so you can catch any errors), running in full screen can be painful to get out of. Best to run in windowed mode. Then simply execute it via wine. ⁞wine Sw.exe
Thats really it. Good luck!
